Sarah asked:

We are looking for the best, cleanest, most expensive suburb outside of Atlanta. What towns or neighborhoods would you suggest? Please also say what the commute is like from there (how long it takes exactly).
ACTUALLY commuting to Chamblee, not downtown Atlanta.

commuting between University of Chicago to downtown?

Aki asked:

I would like to know the options of commuting from International house at university of Chicago to downtown. I have gathered that buses (CTA??) run from there through the lake shore drive and take about 30 min to reach downtown.
I would like to know the frequency of buses and if there are any other options. And whether I can get a bus to go back from downtown to international house late in the evening? How much would a taxi cost?
Is it a safe route? Will there be enough people around in June?
Thanks in advance…

Is it safer for health to use regular A/C or recirculating air (MAX A/C) when commuting?

Drake asked:

Inevitably some auto exhaust pollution will pregnate the car interior no matter the conditions, conceded, but by running on recirculate, wouldn’t this cause you to breathe in that same, stagnating air.. again, and again, and again…? Or is there some mechanism that stops this?

If you switched to regular A/C, although some of the incoming air will no doubt be polluted, won’t you be getting plenty enough fresh air to reach your lungs and thereby prevent any cellular damage or bioaccumulation from occurring on part of the auto exhaust emissions?

Is there essentially no difference at all, and both options are equally safe (and hazardous?)

My vehicle is a 2007 Ford Ranger, if that’s relevant.

In light of the “gas crisis” should companies be given tax breaks for reducing employee commuting?

wisdominknowledge asked:

by implementing a four 10 hour day workweek and support more working from home? on a national scale this could make a difference. Most companies could do it without a lot of difficulty and with $ incentives-and retail and restaurant and related businesses should offer longer shifts and fewer days instead of all those folks that are scheduled 6 days a week, 4 to 5 hours per day. What do you think?

I’m looking for a used bike that I can ride to class (1-2mi) and ride on paved bike trails for exercise. What kind of bike should I be looking for? I’m not looking to spend a lot because I am a poor college student. I’ve been looking at Mt. Bikes, BMX, and Road Bikes…which kind would be better….pros cons?

dave asked:

I drive 50 miles a day mostly on highways in stop and go traffic where speeds are less then 30mph. Would a prius be good in this situation? Looking for something safe, comfortable, reliable and gets really good gas mileage. I’m currently considering only honda and toyota because of their reliability. I’m leaning towards the prius but am concerned about battery and maintainance issues. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

How much would it cost to clear a lot and build a house in northern Virginia/DC commuting area?

kevin h asked:

Lot is about 5 acres and wooded. Trees probably range from small to 100 ft. Nearest house is about 500-1000 ft away – not sure if sewer hook-up or not. Otherwise several neighborhoods about 1 mile away. House would probably be about 2000-2500 sqft. I know this is real general, but any general rules of thumb or rough ideas on clearing, bringing utilities, etc. would be appreciated.
